Mayo’s Ger Cafferkey has declared his retirement from intercounty football.
The Ballina Stephenites man played with the Connacht county for 11 years, making his tournament debut out to New York in 2009.
Through the intervening decade, he also became a vital member of their street, shoring up the defence.
Through his career, he picked up an All-Star award in 2012, and won six Connacht Championship awards.
He becomes the next Mayo participant to retire after the decision of Andy Moran to Dublin, in the wake of this All-Ireland semi-final conquer.
Watch Dublin vs Kerry from the All-Ireland final replay live on Sky Sports Arena from 5pm on Saturday.
